About/FAQ 


Chibi & Esme is a concept space and independent press based in Brunswick, Naarm/Melbourne. It’s a space that resists easy definitions — some amidst a venn diagram of a shop, a press, a studio, somewhere to find community between the lines and a place to spend time. At its core, Chibi & Esme exists to share information, encourage learning, and explore what books, stationery, scultpure and printed matter can be when care, experimentation and intention are placed at the centre.

We run our own press alongside a carefully curated selection of new and second-hand books, as well as clothing, ceramics, jewellery, stationery, stickers, and artist-made objects. The space also hosts workshops, craft sessions, and collective gatherings (in our space or online), creating room for hands-on learning, conversation, and much slower forms of exchange.

Chibi & Esme is shaped through a holistic and intuitive approach. The way the space looks, feels, and functions is guided as much by curiosity and responsiveness as by planning — paying attention to what feels needed, what feels supportive, and what feels alive. This extends to how we publish, how we curate, and how we welcome people in. Care, education, authenticity, and intention are not just values we speak about; they are actively practiced in how the space is built and maintained.

We want to push the boundaries of what a retail space can be. While Chibi & Esme necessarily operates within economic systems, it actively questions them. Much of what we stock is on consignment, prioritising direct support for artists and makers, with a smaller portion sourced through wholesale. We aim to move beyond purely monetised transactions, creating a space where people can exist and perhaps gain inispiration in its own metaphysical circular economy.

FAQ


Irl store 
  • We are currently only open weekends from 12-4. If you are visiting from out of state or can’t make it on the weekend, feel free to send us a dm and we can do an apt on a weekday! 
  • Sporadically, we are unable to open on a Saturday or Sunday, and sometimes we randomly open on a weekday, it’s best that if you’re planning to visit to follow along on our instagram, particuarly our story for updates on our trading hours. 

Online Store
  • Orders will be shipped in 1-2 weeks from the day of purchase. 
  • We only ship in Australia, you can choose between tracked or untracked (enevelope with stamps).
  • If your order is lost, damaged or stolen we do not provide refunds or replacements. 

General
  • We are always open to submissions for having your work on consignment or to publish your work, just send us an email with an enquiry! Please do not send these enquiries via instagram dm.
