Introduction to book binding

What 
In this class you will learn 3 different simple book binding technqies. 

1. Miniature accordion book

*This is a technique where the pages spring like an accordian and is created through simple folding. We will make this book with a fabric hard  cover to make it a bit more interesting and add aesthetic appeal.  



2. One-page zine

*This technique is one of the most simple and popular zine folding techniques. There are actually 6 inner pages, the name is a bit decieving and derives from only 1 piece of paper being needed to create it. Through the folding a totle of 8 sides are created; a front cover, back cover, and 6 inner pages. 



3. Yotsume Toji 

*This is a traditional Japanese book binding technique which is commonly referred to a ‘stab binding’ in Western culture. This one is a bit more complicated to the previous two. It is also commonly used for aesthetic appeal.
