Hi ! And welcome to the ‘Chibi & Esme’ website! To put it precisely we are a reading room, press & bookstore... based out of Brunswick, Naarm (inside a gallery known as ‘TCB’).
I’m not too interested in talking the talk so I’m just gonna yap a bit more casually about the store. We’re currently in quite a transformative period. Chibi & Esme is still partly a retail space but what we want is to provide more for the community, and to push beyond a monetized transaction. We want to elevate the community by sharing eachothers works, pushing for self education or! running workshops if you need a guide. Our values are #care #education #authenticity and #intention. And to try and be a bit more radical and holistic how we go about everything, which is incredibly distorting when eveything is based off of a capitalist system lol. but we’re getting there.
Our curation centres curiosity and uniqueness and to push for boundaries in this. we want people to leave not feeling drained but excited to make something, to read a new book, or maybe just with a new reference to do further independant research.
